Capitol car crash

Summary List Placement

Two Capitol Police officers were injured on Friday when a car crashed into a barricade outside an entrance to the Capitol, the agency said.

The barricade where the car crashed is located on Constitution Avenue across the street from Senate office buildings. On Friday afternoon, when the House and Senate were out of session, staffers were notified that the complex was on lockdown due to an “external security threat.”

Capitol Police said that both officers and the suspect were injured and had been taken to the hospital.
