A Philadelphia police detective had her gun taken away as part of an investigation into her actions in Washington, DC, on the day of the attack on the US Capitol, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Sgt. Eric Gripp, a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department, told the Inquirer that an investigation was underway into Jennifer Gugger.

The outlet said that it was not clear exactly where she was on Wednesday January 6, but that posts from her social media implied that she was at the Trump rally which preceded the violence.

It did not suggest that she had been at the Capitol itself or took part in the violence.

Gripp said a “decision was made during the investigation to take her gun and place her on restricted duty.”

The Inquirer said Gugger had been a background checker for police recruits, but sources told the outlet that she had been temporarily reassigned based on a tip that she had attended the rally.

The outlet previously reported that, in a now-deleted Facebook post, Gugger, using the name Jenny Lynn, “tagged friends she said were at the rally and posted photos of the Washington Monument and a small crowd on the street.”
