Finding and landing clients is one of the biggest challenges that freelancers and other “solopreneurs” face. In 2018 “Freelancing in America” study from Upwork, nearly two-thirds (63%) of full-time freelancers said they felt anxious because their gig work is unpredictable — and not knowing when and where to identify your next paying customer certainly plays its part.

To help ease the stress that many self-employed professionals feel about how to effectively bring in new clients, Business Insider conducted an informal poll of nearly 100 freelancers in various industries to see what cost-effective marketing and self-promotion tactics work best for them when it comes to connecting with new business opportunities.

One strategy stood out from the rest as being responsible for luring all or nearly all of their clients: Facebook groups.
