New York Giants Saquon Barkley and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich have both expressed support for Colin Kaepernick.
Popovich said on Tuesday that Kaepernick did “a very patriotic thing” by choosing to speak out against social injustice.
Barkley has also shown support for the former NFL quarterback, despite the possibility of prompting criticism.
Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2016, but continues to be prominent sports figure.

Colin Kaepernick has supporters, and two of them are New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley and San Antonio Spurs President Gregg Popovich.

On Tuesday, Popovich, who is coaching the 2019 USA Basketball National Team, was asked about showing patriotism in a divided country.

“Patriotism means a lot of things to a lot of different people,” Popovich said, according to ESPN. “You can still be patriotic and understand that there still needs to be criticism and changes and more attention paid to those who do not have what other people do have, and that’s what we’ve fallen short in a lot of different ways.
