“I thought the right thing was to step aside,” Acosta told reporters outside of the White House.
The decision came just two days after Acosta defended his role in the Epstein plea deal at a press conference.
The Trump administration has been rocked by high-profile departures — including James Mattis as defense secretary and John Kelly as chief of staff — since Trump took office in January 2017.
