Google announced the Google Home Hub, its new screened smart speaker, at its hardware event in New York on Tuesday, reports Business Insider. The new $149 device will add to Google’s existing hardware lineup, and serves as an indicator of the direction the company is looking to take with its newly defined “thoughtful home” approach.
The search giant intends to use its various hardware products to offer a means of controlling the home in a way that merges this hardware with AI and deepens the user’s integration with, and dependence on, the broader Google ecosystem.
Google’s Home Hub is a smart speaker featuring a seven-inch screen. The device is the search leader’s response to Amazon’s Echo Show, which debuted last year and was recently refreshed to include a larger screen and sleeker appearance.
